Soledad Romero, clarinettes

Soledad Romero / clarinets

Born in 1975 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She began studying music at
the Conservatoire Manuel de Falla (Buenos Aires). After classical studies,
she wants to become acquainted with popular Argentinian music : the
fusion between jazz and traditional rythms lead her to join ensembles
like El Satiro and Pilar Ternera with which she will record an album where
she combines written and improvised music. In 1999 she came to Paris
to continue her musical studies at the Conservatoire Georges Bizet under
Jérôme Voisin (clarinet soloist with the Orchestre de Radio France), joined
the El Quintechi Ensemble (mingling improvised music and contemporary
music) and participated in the recording of the CD Le Cirque des Mirages.
At the moment, she is leading, playing and singing with the band Cumbia
Ya !, dedicated to rediscovering the spirit that can be felt in the 1950s
Colombian classics so as to interpret them today with the same form of
bands as originally.
